+1 for Public Scrutiny: Feds Reject Special Treatment for Train Route Details

By Marla Nelson, Staff Attorney

Following the U.S. Department of Transportation's order for railroads to give state officials the specific details of oil train routes and volumes, some railroad companies sought confidentiality agreements with states to prevent public disclosure of that information. The railroads have cited to business and security reasons for precluding public review.
